[getdns-api] Hooking in eventing mechanisms

Sorry to re-open a topic we've already talked about.  Can we look at how
libcurl (http://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/) allows you to take control over its
network I/O?  It's described here:

We've recently looked at integrating this with libevent, and it turned out
to be really easy.  In fact, I could imagine a separate (very small)
library that automates the libcurl/libevent integration.  This approach
could clean up the lingering question of how to support different eventing
mechanisms.
